Effective August 27th, Prometric will no longer administer the New Mexico Insurance Examinations. If you are currently scheduled beyond August 26th, Prometric will be canceling your appointment and issuing a refund.
PSI has been selected to administer Licensing Examinations for New Mexico effective August 27, 2024. OSI is working closely with PSI to finalize this transition. Testing will be temporarily unavailable. Scheduling will be available October 21, 2024. Seating will begin October 31, 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Rules and Requirements
Applicant Can
- Submit initial license for individuals electronically.
- Submit reinstatement through NIPR's No Home State License Application.
- Submit for Variable if they currently hold Life or be also applying for Life.
- Add lines of authority (amend) to an existing active license.
- Print license electronically.
Applicant Cannot
- Submit application for major lines of authority
- Submit application for limited lines of authority
Business Rules
- Applicant must not have an active resident state license on PDB in any state.
- In order for an applicant to apply or reinstate through the No Home State initial application for an Independent Adjuster or Staff Adjuster license, the applicant MUST NOT have an active non-resident adjuster license on PDB (in any other state). Note: Public Adjusters will be treated as Producers.
- Applicant must provide either residence or business address that is not in the state of New Mexico.
- Non-citizens of the U.S. will be reviewed by the state. Applicant must provide proof of Visa, Work Permit or Green Card to state of New Mexico. Fax documents to the Office of Superintendent of Insurance Attn: Producer Licensing Bureau (505) 827-4373.
- All No Home State applicants and anyone wishing to activate a cancelled No Home State license must be fingerprinted as part of the application process. Please note that the producer licensing bureau does not consider the application complete until the background check process is completed. More information is available on the fingerprint page of the state's website.
- Applicants may reinstate through No Home State Initial Licensing one year after license expiration date.
- Applicants must use No Home State Licensing Renewals to late renew if they are applying within one year of expiration date.
- Independent Adjuster and Public Adjuster applicants shall file with OSI a surety bond in favor of the superintendent in the aggregate amount of not less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000). The bond shall be one executed by an authorized surety insurer. If the bond is not on file, we allow 10 days from the date of the application for the bond to be submitted/received. - Applicants applying for Variable life and Variable Annuity or Fraternal Variable Life and Variable Annuity must supply a FINRA Central Registry Depository (CRD) number on the application. If you need to verify your CRD number you may use the Broker Search feature found on FINRA's website.
- Applicant must provide a valid residence address. Residence address may not contain a P.O. Box.
- Staff adjuster and Motor Club applicants must list the name and NAIC Company Co-Code of the sponsoring Company.
- Staff Adjuster appointments must be submitted online after the license is issued.
- If applicant responds "yes" to one of the background questions please submit supporting documents electronically via NIPR's Attachments Warehouse. The documents may also be submitted to the state via mail, email, or fax. All other required documentation must be forwarded directly to the state.
